A home extension is a great way to expand your existing space without having to move properties, an extension gives you the opportunity to allow maximum natural light and an open planned living space. Depending on your location, size and type of building, an extension doesn’t always require planning permission and can be put under permitted development, we will guide you through the process and ensure a stress-free planning process.
Different budgets can also affect which extension you may opt for, contact us to get an idea of the prices we offer. Our surveyors will also offer advisory information on which extension may suit your needs although our most popular are: rear extension, wrap around extension, kitchen extension and side return extension.
A rear extension extends the back of the property into the garden. It can be a spacious method to extend your home as it often can allow for both kitchen and open plan diner/living space.
Open plan rooms are great modern conversions for older properties with larger families and those who are frequently entertaining.

A popular method to modernise properties using a rear extension is the use of glass gable points and a variation of skylights such as glass lanterns.
Additional windows and sources of lighting can brighten up homes, allow house plants to thrive and create the feel of spaciousness in small properties which often suffer with low light conditions during rainy British winters.

Side return extension with sky lights lights
Like a rear extension, a side extension adds another room(s) to the side of your existing property. Commonly, side extensions are seen on Victorian homes that have side alleys, which gives you the opportunity to extend into and maximise the use of space, they tend to be smaller than rear extensions due to the often limited space, however, they can have a huge impact on the look and feel of your home. We frequently get asked by clients to make the most of the added roof space by incorporating as much glass and gain as much natural light as possible, this makes a side return a perfect space for creating a contemporary open plan kitchen, and an ideal space for entertaining guests. We love side extensions as they are great for using up dead space and keeping the full-size potential of your garden.

Wrap around extension with a kitchen at the rear of the property and further living space along the side.
A wrap around extension is a combination of both a side and rear extension, often forming an L shape and is the best way to maximise optimal space on the ground floor of your home. This type of extension is designed for open plan kitchens and/or a dining area, perfect for your family room. An extremely common type of extension, used to create a stronger connection to your garden, known as an “indoor-outdoor” space, allowing the outside in. A floor to ceiling bifold is used to achieve this striking, bright look in combination with the addition of skylights.
A double storey extension involves two floors built on top of one another to extend the size of your house, spread across two levels. This type of extension can create the most additional space to your home, whether it’s double storey side, rear or wrap around extension. Often, the upstairs of a double storey extension is used as an extra bedroom, adding on to an existing bedroom or adding an en-suite/ family bathroom. You may find a double storey extension is a great alternative to moving homes, particularly as your family grows and you require additional space. Though a double storey extension is the most expensive option, they massively increase your property’s value.
